07/28/2002 Entry: "I got my Insight. Tra la la la."

"Whether you're Bugs Bunny or a regular person, you can't help having fun when you dress up like Carmen Miranda!!" Especially if you want to do Jude's new car dance:

I got my Insight. Tra la la la la. I got my Insight. Tra la la la.
I got my Insight. Tra la la la la. My Insight. Tra la la .
Got My Insight. Tra la la

(Parents, put down your pills. I am not a cross-dressing cartoon rabbit. Relax.... Deep breathes..... ahhhhhhh.....)

The poor Saturn, it was having trouble getting past 50 mph anymore, and I was just waiting for it to up and die on me at any minute. I stopped trying to make it through the Easy Pass lanes on the toll road about a month ago. I was coming into work later than normal so when the car eventually did give it's death rattle, I wouldn't be stuck in rush hour traffic. It was time for the Requiem for Putt Putt

I started looking in earnest about a week ago, but then a friend visited from Michigan for a few days and then it was raining pretty bad for a couple more days, and there's a deadline at work, so I was search wasn't all that fast. To make matters worse, a lot of Honda dealerships in the Arlington area don't really stock the Insight, and even with the Civic Hybrid, they only have manual transmission, which I never learned the drive, so the pickings were pretty slim. I almost gave up and was thinking about buying another Saturn, but I was pretty disappointed how the car started falling apart after 100K. (Not that I really took great care of it)

But then Bill Page Honda came through. Not only did they have the car in stock, but they also had a nice "Internet Deal" so I ended up paying a couple thousand less than I'd budgeted for. Cool beans !! I know I still probably got taken for a ride, since I hate dealing with car salespeople, but I don't really care because I got my Insight. Tra la la la la.
