The pwan's weblog without a name

I'm hurting for a decent byline here, as you can tell.

03/06/2003 Entry: "pumpkin"

In crossword magazines there's occasionally a puzzle called "pumpkin", where a certain word or phrase in some sentences is replaced by the word "pumpkin". Your job is to determine what that word is. It's an easy, space-filler of a puzzle. Usually it only takes one or two sentences to guess the word.

I suggest a new, improved version of the game called "raging cow". The rules are almost the same, except that instead of using the word "pumpkin", the word "raging cow". It adds some much needed zing to the game. Here's an example:

  1. The best way to eat a steamed raging cow is with a mallet, a dull knife, and plenty of kraft paper.
  2. Raging cows is a sexually transmitted disease.
  3. Violent Raging Cows was formed in 1054 after a star in Taurus exploded.
  4. An unpleasent surly fellow is also known as a raging cow.
  5. Baltimore is well known for its raging cows.

Hats off the the first puzzle where the answer is trademark dilution
