I'm hurting for a decent byline here, as you can tell.

Wonderella Printed looks like a fine little pamphlet publishing house, but it's crown jewel looks to be Pipu:

"Detailing the bizarre adventures of a dog-sized yellow Peep, Pipu is nothing but wonderful candy for your brain. But unlike normal candy, it doesn’t rot your teeth. Pipu is vitamin fortified so you come away from reading it feeling hyper like a crazy little kid."

Co-ops in California and Oregan are providing treated vegetable oil to their memebers use as biofuel. That biofuel manifesto is a fine piece of work. It reminds me of the original classic Viridian rant.

There's a slew of hybrid stories recently about Humveeboy's promise to produce hybrid vehicles at some point in the future. The problem is we've heard it all before. Until it's in the showroom, and I can buy it, not rent it, for my own personal use instead of being limiting to some corporate fleet, it's all just a steaming pot of hype.

Check out this commercial for David Frum's new book in today's Morning Edition. Prick up your ears when you hear the words "cheap energy". It's very surprising, though I doubt it's true.

Happy Epiphany Everyone.

Any tradition where you get to write on your lintels with blessed chalk is OK with me.
Any guesses what I'll be writing on my lintels tonight ?

Demolition Crew Razes Guinea Pig House

When I was growing up there was a little pink house across the street where about 30 dachshunds lived. No people in the house, just the dogs. The owner would come by every couple days, and let the dogs out. They would run around in a pack in the yard while the guy cleaned out the house. This went on for years. Eventually the dogs disappeared. I don't know if the SPCA was called or what, but eventually the house was cleaned up and people started living in it again.

E.L.F. says it burned SUVs. There have also been related acts of vandalism in the Richmond area.

All stuff like this does is increase insurance rates, which eventually gets passed down to you, the consumer, once you go out and buy your spiffy new hybrid electric car.

Instead of setting fires, you should shop around for an insurance company that's not going to pass on the cost of SUV violence to you.

.... drivers of sport utility vehicles receive an indirect subsidy because SUVs cause more damage in accidents but their premiums are no higher than those for standard cars.

I wonder how long it'll be before there's an ethical car insurance company that won't cover SUVs, the same way ethical investment funds won't touch the Monsantos and Dows of the world ?
