Goodness me. First that cheap energy remark, and now solar panels are back at the White House.
Everyone remembers Reagan removed the original set, right ?

There were big traffic jams both going to and coming back from work today. Traffic jams suck when the temperature's less than 40 degrees, because then the Insight's engine doesn't turn off when the car's idle. I just had to sit there and watch the daily mileage go down and down and down. It hit 7 mpg before traffic finally started moving again. Not a pretty sight. Daily mileage was only at about 42 mpg for the entire day. Down from 53 most of the rest of the week.

And then to make matters worse, I just found out I was wearing my shirt inside-out the entire day.

A convicted car thief drove off with an SUV he was supposed to wash. He told the guard at the gate he was chasing a missing cow. What's the jail need an SUV for anyway ? And cows for that matter ?

Berkeley censors strike out at the long-dead Emma Goldman because the quotes used in some fundraising mailer were too political. Political Emma Goldman quotes ? Golly, they most have looked pretty hard to find any of those... The quotes appear to be pretty tame:

In one of the quotations, from 1915, Goldman called on people "not yet overcome by war madness to raise their voice of protest, to call attention of the people to the crime and outrage which are about to be perpetrated on them." In the other, from 1902, she warned that free-speech advocates "shall soon be obliged to meet in cellars, or in darkened rooms with closed doors, and speak in whispers lest our next door neighbors should hear that free-born citizens dare not speak in the open."

Personally, I think they should have used this one:

"I believe that militarism will cease when the liberty-loving spirits of the world say to their masters: "Go and do your own killing. We have sacrificed ourselves and our loved ones long enough fighting your battles. In return you have made parasites and criminals of us in times of peace and brutalized us in times of war. You have separated us from our brothers and have made of the world a human slaughterhouse. No, we will not do your killing or fight for the country that you have stolen from us."

Really, why be subtle ?

BYW, The group doing the fundraiser was mentioned here before as well.

How's this for pork: Delegate George Broman, R-Culpeper, has introduced a bill that would grant a sales-tax exemption to animal sanctuaries specializing in the rescue and care of potbellied pigs.

There's only one such sanctuary in all of Virginia, Mini-Pigs Inc. which just happens to be in the good delegate's home district. Way to work towards closing that budget gap Del Broman !

More suprising is that Mini-Pigs Inc has been mentioned on this blog before.
