Jesus as Dental Voyeur
I imagine the patient saying "Hey, hey, Halo Boy ! No jostling the hygentist when she's got sharp instruments in my mouth. Schedule your own bloody appointment !." Of course, all that would come out would be "Oofu offoghff oofoofa ofoghfiofu, Ooooooghfffff !!!! uuffff".

I'm going to go get surveilled at the Smithsonian Kite Festival today.
Hopefully I'll get some good pictures. This is always worth seeing, especially the kite battles.

You'ld think it would have sunk in when Car Talk was on the radio, or maybe when there was hardly any traffic on the road, but no, it didn't really sink in that it was Saturday until I pulled into the Cisco parking lot, and no one else was there. Ooooops.

Why I Am Not Going To Buy A Computer
To make myself as plain as I can, I should give my standards for technological innovation in my own work. They are as follows:
1. The new tool should be cheaper than the one it replaces.
2. It should be at least as small in scale as the one it replaces.
3. It should do work that is clearly and demonstrably better than the one it replaces.
4. It should use less energy than the one it replaces.
5. If possible, it should use some form of solar energy, such as that of the body.
6. It should be repairable by a person of ordinary intelligence, provided that he or she has the necessary tools.
7. It should be purchasable and repairable as near to home as possible.
8. It should come from a small, privately owned shop or store that will take it back for maintenance and repair.
9. It should not replace or disrupt anything good that already exists, and this includes family and community relationships.

Bring on the Jean-Paul Satre Brigade. What the hell, ship some of them to Virginia.
My goodness, I haven't laughed that hard in ages.

Here are some pictures from lower Manhattan. I was there again this weekend. That would be the third time in two months. I'm spending more time up there than I am in downtown D.C.

The Tower Of Lights Memorial as seen from the roof of my brother's apartment building.
Marshall should take a chill pill - the format works pretty well, and it's only going to be up for a month, and it doesn't look very much like this at all....

Sorry if this picture is too sappy, but it stands out pretty sharply from the rest of the banners and peace cranes outside Saint Paul's Chapel.
At the very least, it made me go look at Rebecca Blood's niece's card again.
