The pwan's weblog without a name

I'm hurting for a decent byline here, as you can tell.

The Cherry Blossom Parade and Street Festival are tomorrow. I'll probably try and get to them. I haven't been to a parade in a while. Who knows, It may be good for the soul. Most likely I'll just end up getting disgusted by giant floating mickey mouse heads.

More festival info is at the http://www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org/ site. It's a sorry site for sore eyes. You have been warned.

Truth be told, the parade starts at 9:30, but I probably won't get up until around 11:00 at the earliest, and the street festival wasn't all that good last time I went. It was cramped with lots of grumpy hungry people all waiting in food lines. Plus I'm in the midst of avoiding a school project via a little trout fishing, trout fishing, trout fishing ,trout fishing and I can already tell this is going to consume me totally after this post, so even that 11:00 estimate may be off a bit.

"The minute I hear them ask to be put on the do-not-call list, I immediately add them to the mailing list, because otherwise, you're never going to reach them again ..... Autodialers, God I love autodialers, you don't know how much easier they make the job. I remember the old days, you could never tell when people were working. Now, if they're not talking, they're goofing off .......... Karen's such a waste. She doesn't know how to do her job. If I were had her job, I'ld be walking up and down the ailses all the time, making sure people weren't sleeping. I wouldn't be back at her desk sitting like she does. The day she was out, I was walking, and damn if those calls weren't being made............Robert... Robert's just weak. Twice I've heard him say 'So would you like us to stop by sometime next week'. That just gives them a chance to say no. He doesn't close the deals. It's not the way it's done. You say 'Well I've got an appointment open Monday night and one open Thursday night. What night do you want us to stop by' You don't give them an option. You give them their choices.'"

- Fragments of a Metro Conversation, Late March, 02002.

It's been a couple days, I still can't figure out why anyone would let a stranger into their home based on a telemarketer's pitch. Rug cleaning maybe ? Termite inspections ? Panic room testers, perhaps ?

Here's some more words on the subject directed towards senior citizens. I know at least one of my readers falls into that category.

Went to church with my parents back in Easton today. Here's today's second reading.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above,
where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ your life appears,
then you too will appear with him in glory.

To paraphrase: "Stick your head where the sun don't shine and look for heaven."
