The pwan's weblog without a name

I'm hurting for a decent byline here, as you can tell.

Blog entry of the day, this time from far-off Uzbekistan:

I have a boyfriend. I have a new job. I have a puppy, and a great apartment. In a movie, this would be the point where I get a terminal illness. I find myself knocking on wood all the time.

Just ignore the shameless plug for one of my other projects on the subsequent paragraph...

Also don't miss her 9-11 post.

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving, and is taking it easy today.

I'm back in Easton for a couple days. One of the benefits of hanging out in a small town is that you get to read the local small town press. The print version of the paper has stories which never make it onto it's online version.

For instance, here's another story that was in yesterday's Express that I dug up online. Some teenagers from Houma, Louisana were almost changed with terrorizing after shooting water pistols at the local bingonauts. Instead they have to write a 3,500 word essay on "Why I'm Proud to be an American." along with some other community service. Hopefully the essays will be posted to the web for a future update. No word on what's to happen to the folks who fell into a panic after failing to tell the difference between teenagers with water pistols and a plane flying into their building.

I also found that the WTO also just finished up a summit of some sorts. They also launched their new web site. They kicked it off with a flush of the WC and then sang the group's signature song, the Secret Garden. Apparently this one isn't a joke, but I might be wrong.

Here's an example of how I could mistakenly believe the esteemed gentleman from Georgia could have said something outragous. Is this another joke ? Who knows ? Ughhh.

Dear Representative Barr,

I was surprised to see read in the WP
(http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A44449-2001Nov17.html) that you had defaced the National Airport metro station after hours "wherever you damn well wanted to".

Did the WP misquote you somehow ?

If not, I find it pretty inappropriate for an elected offical to be involved in such shennanigans when I would expect you would focusing on issues such as airport security.

If possibile, please set aside your feud with Metro, and focus on the needs of your
constituents, all of which live very, very far away from National Airport.

Please respond via e-mail. I am planning to post the response on my weblog at www.pwan.org/blog Please let me know if you would rather I didn't post the response. Hopefully my readers, few as they might be, would benefit from having this issue put into perspective.

Thanks

Update: It appears I was taken in by a joke article in the Post ! Let's examine how it happened:

It goes without saying that I won't be paying any attention to Benard Ries' columns anytime in the near future.
