Arlington reaches the defining mark for an urban area: one rat per person.

North Arlington residents have seen rats -- which are known to carry dozens of diseases and fleas -- in Lubber Run Park, six at a time and at high noon, traipsing through the same sandboxes their children play in.

Ugh. I had a horrible dream. Some little kid was telling me really unfunny jokes. They were so bad, I forced myself awake, and now I can't get back to sleep, which explains this lame post. I only remember one of the stupid jokes.

Q: Why was the pig named 'Ink' ?
A: So it could live in a fountain pen. Bah hahahah.

Ughh. Too bad I didn't dream this joke.

There's a real Center for Humor Studies at the University of Maryland.
There's also a humor and jokes in children's subculture project out of Slovakia.
The half-bakery also has an interesting idea for a joke cross-compiler.

Now that I've read that stupid elf joke, I should be able to get back to sleep.

A 4.5% price increase from the local cable monopoly seems like a fine excuse for taking a break from television. Just think what you could do with an extra $500 a year...

(The Herndon campus was closed for everyone except "essential personal" due to The Snow. I am not essential. I am working from home. Tomorrow, I get to see if the Insight will become a luge on the roads. Bad news is I forgot to bring in the tomato plants from the patio last night. It is safe to say they are now officially dead.)

Uncommon Market is having a sale! Starting tomorrow (Wednesday Dec 4th) and ending Saturday (Dec 7th) they're having a Community Appreciation Sale. For those 4 days all (current) members receive 15% off everything at the co-op, and all non-members receive 10% off.

Things are pretty bleak, so go buy, buy, buy !

This post is to force me off my butt tonight so I can finish up the last few bits of work needed before I really make the brand-new search log index page available.

Preview is here. The source is here.

American cupholder engineers, pay heed: The body is unpainted in order to save weight."

I can't imagine driving that tiny car around on the Beltway, much less the Autobahn.
