Via Mr Pants: A most unfortunate choice of product branding: religious character boxcutters from Jdreamer. You get your choice of Jesus, Mary, and Zacchaeus (eh ?). Perhaps this is just the thing that hard-to-buy-for AOG member on your Xmas list is looking for.

Apparently someone at the DOJ is a yahooligan. I would hope our civil servants in law enforcement would be too busy nowadays to be lollygagging around. Alas, it appears that isn't so. I've removed the MsgId and YY parameters to discourage possible mischief.

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church from Topeka Kansas will be New Hampshire next week harrassing Dover High School students for choosing a same sex couple as the "Couple of the Year" for their yearbook. You may remember Westboro from their presence at Matthew Shepard's funeral. Looks like they've also recently targetting the North High School in Omaha after student activist Brad Fuglei committed suicide.
Perhaps the school should pick up the fund raising idea the Topeka Symphony Orchestra is using to capitalize on the church. This is an implementation of the sweet Eveny Minute Counts idea.

I'm posting this from my brother's place in lower Manhattan. I spent the day catching up with old friends and wandering around lower Manhattan. Dispite the missing towers, everything was more or less as I remember it. Even the people I haven't seen in over five years don't seem to have changed that much. I miss New York a lot. I'll post a longer impression on the city once I get home. My brother doesn't have enough lamps to light his whole apartment so I'm typing this on a laptop in the dark, which is sort of annoying.

In a story any Green readers might like, Mastercard is accused of ripping off some filmmakers as part of their priceless ad campaign.

Abaya is excellent, as is Tesserae's Lantern Waste journal. The Chistmas entry just blew me away.
If you only click through one link on this blog this year, have it be that Christmas entry...

Book-burning principal faces charges.
I stumbled across this while looking for a Debby Schlussel article that might have had a connection with that JDL plot to blow up Darrell Issa's office.
I did find the article - it's unblogworthy tripe - but its a slippery slope claiming it had anything to do with instigating terror.

Happy Christmas.
Next year, make your kids work for their goodies - bring back the Belsnickel:
He throws the gifts on the floor, demanding a "piece" performed by the children. They have prepared for this for months, and they say a poem or sing a song. He remains stern, with grim, forbidding countenance. When Beltznickel’s whip rattled the windows. the children were frightened and he was a creature to be feared. Sunday School Festivals in the Pennsylvania Dutch countryside continue this tradition of saying a "piece" for him, even though he may not show up.
