Lo and behold, what did I get in the mail today, but my Mastercard statement, and, to my surprise a yearly membership fee was tacked on this month. "Ughh", I say to myself, and out come the scissors. Snip snip goes the card, into the payment envelope along with my $10.00 monthly donation to Amnesty, a copy of the news story below, and an index card asking that account be closed out.

I was looking for Mastercard alternatives, and I stumbled across the Co-operative Bank site.
I remember seeing their ads in the Tube last September.
Too bad there aren't any banks like this in the States...

This is the best thing I heard all day !
Mastercard is sueing the Nader campaign for it's parady ad.
My goodness, I'm in Rossyln, and I think I can here the partying from Nadar headquarters across the Potomac right now as I type...

Why not turn your tot into a dot.com ad ?

Another example of putting recyclables to good use. This time it involves using plastic bottles to build a fly trap that cuts down on trachoma.

For anyone who's really bored, I'm putting my status reports on-line again, digitially signed with my PGP public key, since I don't trust they won't be modified as they travel through the corporate hierarchy.

It's not as cool as the solar car that drove across Canada, but a van driving on kitchen grease is still pretty nifty.
Guess I don't like it because the car is still being run by dead things, only things not quite so dead as fossil fuels.

I was at the state meeting / picnic for the Maryland Greens on Sunday dispite my Virginia residency.
It's one of the side effects of having a girlfriend on the rules and bylaws committee of the Baltimore Greens.
I was pretty impressed with the people invovled. I had expected some strange folks to come out of the woodwork, but for the most part the Greens looked and acted pretty much like everyone else. About 60 people showed up. It looked like everyone had a good time..
I should probably even look into getting involved with my local Green group.
