The Post has published an account of the Uncommon Market closure. I especially liked this paragrah. My sentiments exactly:

For me, the loss was more psychological than financial or practical. I wanted to see the Arlington co-op survive so it could demonstrate, as other co-ops do locally and nationally, that a business can succeed without greed, and that people can be trusted to own and control the companies that meet their basic needs. I never expected to see a penny back from my modest investment, but I did hope that my efforts, and those of countless fellow cooperators, would not be in vain.
