07/11/2004 Entry: "Out of Vermont, Still Not In Arlington"

Here's a short summary of the vaction:

July 1st: Travel from Arlington to Port Jervis.
July 2nd: Travel from Port Jervis to West Odd
July 3rd, 4th: West Odded Bliss
July 5th: Travel West Odd to Killington
July 6th, 7th, 8th : Hiking Around Rutland
July 9th: Travel from Killington to Nyack, NY
July 10th: Travel from Nyack to Easton, PA
July 11th: Travel from Easton, PA to Arlington.

Except for a few minutes to check my e-mail at the BBQ, I've been totally offline since the end of June. I had a really good time.

I will be posting pictures, including some of last year's vacation any day now. In the meantime, a picture of your's truely has surfaced where I'm either trying to blow bubbles or stockpiling water gun ammunition.

The car ran great this year. Last year I was just getting over 50 mpg, but I was getting well over 60 mpg every day of this year's vacation, even after having to drive up Killington. I didn't see as many hybrids in the Rutland area as I saw in the Montpelier area. In Nyack, I actually got a few what-kind-of-car-is-that-type questions, which I hadn't had since the first days of owning the car two years ago. I saw two Prius in the town, so that just made it all the more odd.

And finally an extra lesson from this year's trip:

• Tent spikes do not belong in pole grommets, and tent poles should not end up in tent spike grommets.
