The pwan's weblog without a name

I'm hurting for a decent byline here, as you can tell.

I drove up to Pennsylvania to visit my parents for Easter. I managed a respectable 57.5 mpg for the trip, but found I had a flat tire when I reached Easton. I called the HondaCare service at my parents insistance. Actually they wanted me to call AAA, but we have different agendas.

The HondaCare tow truck arrived very quickly - the spare was on within twenty minutes, dispite the mechanic's l "I never saw one of these before, do you have the users manual...." comment which I was expecting.

So now the spare is on, and I'm off to get the tire fixed tomorrow. I'm hoping it just needs to get patched, because if the tire needs to be replaced, I'm guessing no one in the Easton may have Insight tires in stock. When I bent a rim after driving through a pothole a couple years back, it took 3 days to get a new tire.

Work is pretty busy now. I can't really take three days off waiting for a tire to be special ordered.

Update: Sigh, the tire place says it is an unrepairable puncture on the side of the tire, and, no surprise, they don't have one in stock, and it'll take three days to get one. I've been calling around to the local Honda dealerships and Firestone places, and they are all telling me the same thing. I found some available at Philadelphia Honda. There may be one in Scranton as well.

Update 2: Lehigh Valley Honda comes through - they have one in stock. Hurray !!

Update 3: Drove up to Allentown, got the tire, took it back to the tire place, and now all is well with the car again.

Hybrid fans more in the "blue quadrant" of the polical compass might be interested in Energy Security. Dispite the pre-blog, biweekly, two column format, it has some tasty content, like the Iraq Pipeline Watch.

Is there a lazyweb for folk music ? If so, someone should update King Henry, or at least add a new verse or two.

On a related note: Lots of good links on restoring music to the labour movement.
