Here's an amusing account of a biker versus SUV race. A second account stresses the rigged PR angle.
The articles should have included a link to the Bike to Work Day website.
This looks a bit Bay-centric though. Turns out in Virginia, Bike to Work day was called Clean Commute Day, and was on May 2nd. Who knew !
(Off to Heathcote in about an hour. Hopefully by that time the lightning will have stopped. Today I am going to get wet.)

Looks like I may be visiting Heathcote, a small intentional community outside Baltimore tomorrow. Actually I'll be visiting some people visiting Heathcote.
Looks like they are big on permaculture there. The tour should be interesting.

Here's a pretty enjoyable article about Doug Korthof, electric vehicle advocate:
Kinda like your crusty uncle the engineer, Korthof, 60, menacingly snickers —"Heh!"—whenever something strikes him funny, and that’s how he punctuates his story about regularly driving his electric car to City Hall in Los Angeles, parking in the free space for ZEVs in the police department’s underground lot, walking over to a public meeting to argue about some developer, going back to his car and driving home.
Hey, wait a second. I may be someone's crusty engineer uncle some day....

Try substituting "Misters Bush and Cheney" for "Mississippi" in the song Here's to the State of Mississippi. It almost works, especially the schools, laws and churches verses.
Mr Ochs why'd you go off and kill yourself ? We could really use you now.

Some poorly-planned, ad-hoc changes are happening to the site, so things will be wonky for a while.
I'll post a full description later, not that anyone will care. Full, free-form comments are coming back, in the form of a wiki.
It'll look something like this if I ever get it to work.
The first 750 or so Greymatter posts are also getting split off into their own directory since rebuilding the site takes forever now.
