The pwan's weblog without a name

I'm hurting for a decent byline here, as you can tell.

I'm off to bum around Vermont for a week of vacation bliss. There probably won't be any updates for a while. Not there have been a lot recently anyway. Cheers.

There's been a landside in neighboring Fairfax County.

The hill also contains marine clay, which, when waterlogged, can adopt the properties of Jell-o, Pylant said. But he said that marine clay on hills elsewhere in Fairfax has not led to landslides. "I really believe this was a freak, isolated condition," Pylant said. "I have no reason to believe we are prone to any reoccurrences of something like this."

The hill is owned by the 600-member Landsdowne Homeowner Association, which would have to pay for repairs to the hill. Several members said the association has only a few hundred dollars in its reserves.

.
"Repair the hill" my ass. The hill's just fine. Fairfax needs to repair its land use policy. Until that happens, Fairfaxians should brush up on their landslide safety tips.
