The Barn Cat Program: Because not all cats want to be housepets. Some like the farm life.

(I'm no cat-person, but I think they mean FIV, instead of AIDS.)

Ahh, it's projects like this that restore my faith in humanity. But still, I'm left wondering about the society's name. Was there some original "CPR For cats" project that went horribly wrong ?

Hot dang, I'm may be in the majority for once. According to the fine Field of Schemes News 64% of Arlingtonians oppose having a baseball team in town. (BTW, here's the working link to the Sun weekly article.) Maybe these 64% have sat in traffic before an O's game and imagined that mess in the middle of Arlington. Or maybe they just don't like doling out the corporate welfare to team owners. Either way, hats off to you 64% !

However, you wouldn't know there was any opposition from walking around my neighborhood. There are a lot of "Baseball in Arlington" signs in people's yards, and I've seen a few pro-stadium bumperstickers. Meanwhile, the No Arlington Stadium Coalition apparently doesn't even have a web site in place. Get with it NASC people, or you'll blow your grassroots support, especially if you continue to act rudely.

Update: I finally found Noarlingtonstadium.org, which claims anti-stadium lawn signs are being stolen. Oh my, so much drama.

It's unfortunate that both Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Katherine K. Hanley have said something as silly as a proposed DC commuter tax could lead to war, especially when folks who can vote for them are stuck in Iraq indefinitely.

For what it's worth, I support regional commuter taxes. In the long run it should cut down on traffic. Jurisdictions will be pressured to provide local jobs so their tax dollars aren't redirected to neighboring jurisdictions, and local jobs means shorter commutes, and hence less traffic.

My humble suggestion would be to not tax commuters who use public transportation, and to push all the tax burden on to drivers.
