"General Motors is lobbying Congress to restructure a proposed tax credit for consumers who buy fuel-efficient hybrid cars to include pickup trucks that get less than 20 miles per gallon."
What a joke. They want a $4000 tax credit for a piddly extra 3 mpg. I can get an extra 3 mpg on the commute home any day by listening to the classical music on the ride home instead some lively klez. I suspect anyone in any car could get an extra 3 mpg by simply changing their driving habits.
I say no pickups or SUVs in Club Hybrid until their getting over 75 mpg.

I don't know which is odder. That SUVs are excempt from seatbelt laws in Indiana, or that that Jon C. Owen Jr bothered appealing a $25.00 fine.
Anyway, now you lucky Inidianians have a double shot at death-by-SUV: if the initial impact doesn't kill you, you've always got the chance of getting hit by the driver as he's propelled through his windshield and into your lap.

For the second time in less than a week I've almost been driven off the road by an SUV.
The first time was on Sunday when I was driving back from Easton. A Hummer was tailgating me really, really, really close for about 5 minutes on route 78 by the 81 interchange. We were both going over 70 mph and we were the only drivers on the road. I couldn't change lanes because all I could see in the mirrors was his stupid car. Pardon the language by he was fucking with me, pure and simple. Asshole.
The second time was this morning when some BMW boat decided it was going to switch lanes into me. Not cut me off, just move directly into me into the right turn lane. I was nearly in a ditch. This seemed to be more an example of poor navigation skills rather than deliberate fuckage, but still it sucked.
We will now return to more family-friendly blogging.

Nearby Loudoun County is thinking about showering down some hybrid love in the form of a significant personal property tax break. Instead of $4.20 per $100 of assessed value, the hybrid happy rate would be $0.01 per $100. For my Insight. I'd only have to pay $2.10 instead of $882.00. Hey, it's not that SUV tax loophole, but it's nothing to laugh at either..
On a less happy note, there are apparently only 75 hybrids in all of Loudoun County. Come on you smart growth fanatics - drive what you preach.
