The pwan's personal unbranding method
Buying for Unbranding

Problem

How do you keep your house logo free once you've gone to the effort of cleaning it ?

Context

Just as nature adheres a vacuum, advertising adheres private space.  Your hard earned freedom will be questioned each and everytime you go out, especially when you go out shopping.

Forces

A more active method of shopping is to honor boycotts and to support sustainable products.

Thinking thifty is also useful - why do you really need the product in the first place ?

It is always important to avoid credit when shopping

Solution

In addition to the price, quality and ethical aspects of the products you're shopping for, also consider how you are going to unbrand them.  Look at the label on the shirt - will it be easy to cut off.  Will you be able to pop off the logo the bottom of that TV with a screwdriver or is it embossed into the plastic ?  Do you have some alternative packaging in the kitchen that you could transfer your breakfast ceral into ?

Tools Used

Mainly your own mind, and your money.

Skills Needed

Patience.  An eye for quality.

Payback

Since this is a sustaining method, it doesn't have an immediate payoff.  The cost on the otherhand is that you buy something that might not have been your first choice.   My experience has been that if you focus on the quality of the product, you will not look back and wish you bought the logo-laden product that chose to focus on its image.
