It can become difficult to keep in mind all aspects of the personal code you
want to live by. Its also a pain to have to tell visitors what the rules
are
all the time.
This method falls in the maintenance category. Basically you've already cleaned up your environment, and you want to put down some defences so it doesn't become an issue again some time in the future.
You have a limited memory, and (hopefully) most of the time you aren't thinking about unbranding. So a helpful reminder, close to the troublesome area will could be very helpful.
Stick a short note near the problem area, reminding you or others what the expected behavior in that area should be.
Some examples of this method around my house are stickers applied to the TV and remote control warning me against channel surfing, and a sticker taped across my clothes dryer asking if I couldn't use the drying rack instead. I've also seen this method employeed extensively at the Twin Oaks community, where sometimes multiple notes are stuck to pieces of equipment.
Adhesive stickers work very well for leaving notes.
No special skills needed.
There's a big payback here. It's very easy to stick a note somewhere, and it pays for itself the first time you read it and you were about to do the opposite of what it says.
