| Problem: |
You need to remove a logo or label sewn onto a product you
own. |
| Context: |
Scissors are designed for cutting thread, so you might as
well use them for cutting the threads that are used to attach offensive
material from your clothing. |
| Forces: |
The sharp edges of a pair of scissors make them very good
at removing labels from a majaority of clothing products as well as other
products which have logos sewn onto them, such as sneakers, mattresses,
and backpacks.
The shard edges of a pair of scissors can also be used to scrape off
brands which are painted on products, though you will probably want to
use a file for
that purpose. |
| Solution: |
Snip, snip. If I have to tell you how to use scissors, you've
got bigger problems than being bombarded by ads.
Actually for products which have logos sewn onto them, the solution
is a little more involved:
-
Pick a corner of the logo, and lift it up as high as possibile.
-
Then fit the scissors into the gap between the logo and the product, trying
to cut the threads that keep them together.
-
Once some of the threads are cut, continue to pull on the logo, and it
should lift up more, presenting additional threads that you can cut to
pull the logo off even more.
-
Eventually the entire logo will come off.
Be careful about cutting the threads, since you may end up cutting the
material under the logo, and damaging the product. |

Removing
Logos |
| Skill Needed: |
Enough common sense not to run with your scissors ! |
| Acquisition: |
Scissors can be picked up at almost any corner store. You
want to look for ones which have long edges which are good for reaching
between tight stiches, and which are sharp right at the tips, so that stiches
can be easily cut. |
